SQUIDS LIVE! was conceived by SquidShow Theatre founder Sasha Cucciniello and her long-time collaborator Jen Wineman, a director from New York City.  Sasha shared her not-so-normal obsession with the cephalopod family (cuttlefish, octopus, squid…etc) with her friends over the years. Taking their inspiration from the science video “Incredible Suckers”, the two friends decided that it was time to turn this love into art.  SQUIDS LIVE!, a show developed with the company through improv and writing exercises, was part cabaret, part vaudeville, part 80′s workout video and all squid.  The play covers everything from the life cycle of a squid to imagining what cephalopods watch on TV, from an octopus likes and dislikes to what love is to a squid.
