Dude & Bro’s Epic Adventure
Dude & Bro’s Epic Adventure originally began out of Sasha’s desire to write a musical stage version of the movie Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. After initial readings with the company, the show took a more local turn and went through rewrites to become Dude & Bro’s. It was our homage to Telluride in all it’s seemingly ambitionless, mirth-seeking, big-pow, medicinal-marijuana-worshipping ski bums. As Dude & Bro try and navigate the difficulties of losing their jobs, girlfriends, and coveted ski-passes, they realize that theatre is the only true way to go. With the help of a magical chairlift(actually welded by our amazing artist friend Anton), they travel through the circuits of media to gather movie personalities to help them in their quest. While the first act became a magical romp through ridiculousness, filled with Telluride in-jokes, the second act showcased Dude & Bro’s devolution from career professionals to….well…successful theatre kids. It was a huge undertaking, with a large cast, video-work, large cumbersome props and long nights. Shameless weed-jokes and dressing our dog up like the Lion King kept us going.
